ABOUT BIG BLUE

Raymond Knudsen (he/him) is an award-winning Filipino-American filmmaker based between New York City and South Florida. Knudsen founded BIG BLUE PICTURES in 2020.

Under BIG BLUE, Knudsen produced the upcoming indie feature titled THE BIG GAME, starring Joel Murray (MAD MEN) and executive produced by Jim Cummings (THUNDER ROAD), as well as multiple short films including WEAPONS AND THEIR NAMES (Sundance, Palm Springs ShortFest) and MONKEY BARS (NoBudge, NFFTY).

As a writer/director, Knudsen is focused on his Filipino-American roots, competitive sports, and DJ culture. His latest short film, PREP, screened at the Indie Memphis Film Festival (Audience Choice: Best Departures Short), Mammoth Lakes Film Festival, and Bend Film Festival. It premiered on Short of the Week in 2024. Knudsen was awarded the Florida Filmmaker Award from the Tallahassee Film Festival and won Best Narrative Short from the Subtropic Film Festival, sponsored by Telemundo.

 

Knudsen is developing his debut feature documentary titled AMERICAN BABY. The proof of concept was awarded the 2026 SAVAGE 23 grant, a Filipino-led filmmaking initiative created by A Bunch of Savages.

Knudsen graduated from the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts in 2019. He's also a huge New York Giants fan.
